“Guide to Digital Transformation in Cultural Heritage: Building capacity for digital transformation across the Europeana Initiative stakeholders” by Culture24 and Europeana Digital Transformation Task Force published in May 2022. The format is easy to read with small direct sections.

Culture24 is an independent charity working with cultural professionals to overcome difficulties in the field.

The publication has six sections Definitions, Recommendations, Starting Points and What now? Below is a quick summary of the contents:

The recommendations urge (1)digital literacy and skills and break down digital activities in:

“- What will we need to use?

– What will we need to manage?

– What will we need to create?

– What will we need to understand?”

(2)Following the guide suggests exploring new ways of learning and working with a people-centred approach.

(3)Assure digital transformation is purposeful to the organisation and values.

Further, noting how individuals, organisations and networks can achieve them.

Starting Points offers helpful prompts for better understanding and setting starting and focus points in a linear order. Furthermore, the chapter suggests activities and breaks into questions on digital skills and literacies.

Our take

We recommend adding the guide to your toolkit, being an excellent starting point for digital transformation for individual organisations and networks. The guide is also super easy to read through in 20 pages broken into a Q&A format!
