International Conference of the Histories of Anthropologies “Doing Histories, Imagining Futures” on December 4-7, 2023. It will be the first event of its kind, providing historians of anthropology with the opportunity to exchange personal and disciplinary experiences and enhance their ability to analyse current anthropological debates.
Links to access the Conference’s streaming sessions will be available through the website.
Research on the histories of anthropology in Europe and across the world has grown steadily over the past several decades. Consequently, anthropology has evolved from the margins to the centre of conversations surrounding anthropological practice.
As contemporary anthropological theory and practice move forward, historians of anthropology face a challenge in their future roles in studying, practising, and structuring the subject. The Conference gives participants a space to openly and friendly discuss the subject, methodologies, teaching approaches, as well as our research’s ethical implications for current and future anthropology.
Our Take
The Conference is much needed and offers a unique chance for professionals internationally to meet, exchange, and put into context contemporary anthropology and practice!
